Welcome to the N.L.P.O.A. San Diego Metro Chapter website. I am the President of the San Diego Metro Chapter.

I am truly excited to be leading our organization into the coming year and to have such a talented team of professionals on our board.

We look forward to continuing our Community Outreach by strengthening partnerships within the community and also with the various Law Enforcement Institutes in San Diego to "Keep America Safe."

We look forward to assisting our members in the areas of recruiting qualified law enforcement professionals, mentoring, and guidance in the field of Law Enforcement. We look forward in continuing to provide scholarships to our youth within the community and promote our commitment to education. We are committed to l these goals and look forward to a bright future.

NLPOA San Diego Metro Chapter Elections

The SD Metro Holiday Social and General Board Elections will be this Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at 6 PM. However, due to venue conflicts, we had to change the venue to Café Coyote in Old Town at 2461 San Diego Ave. (South of Old Town Mex Café). The election will be in the Café’s meeting room during the first hour. Afterwards, we will relocate to a reserved area in the restaurant for Taco Tuesday. Thank you for helping to run our elections.

Please come join us. We hope to see you all there.

NLPOA San Diego Metro Comedy Night

Members,

Comedy Night will be Friday evening, August 26th, at Jasmine Restaurant. The Comedians have been on several national shows, such as the Tonight Show, How I Met Your Mother, Nickelodeon Funniest Mother, Comedy Central, Showtime and HBO. Tickets officially go on sale this Monday. Please see Alan Alvarez (Northern), Janet Wong (Western), Joe Howie (Homicide) or me (Field Lt.) for tickets. The venue is open seating. Tables of 10 are available for reservation upon request. Table Captains will need to bring full payment and the names of the attendees for their table. NLPOA members and one guest are $60, Non members $70.

Auction items and opportunity drawings will include: Lifeguard Civilian Breathalyzer, 3rd Gen iPod Touch, Concert Tickets, Park Tickets, Sport Memorabilia (like Manny Pacquiao autographed boxing glove), Hotel Stays, Restaurant Gift Certificates, and much more. Proceeds will benefit the NLPOA scholarship fund.

There are still a few openings left in the Mentoring and Career Building Class. Please email Sgt. Misty Cedrun if you are interested in attending the one day class. All information is below.

NLPOA News updates:

On September 11, 2010 at the California State meeting held here in SanDiego .
NLPOA San Diego Metro President Alan Alvarez was elected NLPOA California State President at the California State meeting on September 11, 2010.

1st Vice President Jerry Hara was Sworn in as NLPOA San Diego Metro President on October 12, 2010. President Hara will complete the remainder of President Alvarez San Diego Metro term which expires in December 2011.

President Hara appointed Deputy DA Marcy McLaughlin to fill the 1st Vice President position.

Congratulations to all.

N.L.P.O.A.

The goal of the Association is to promote equality and professionalismin law enforcement. The objectives of the organization are to create a fraternal/professional Association that provides its members and members of the community with career training; conferences and work shops to promote education and career advancement; mentoring; and a strong commitment to community service.

N.L.P.O.A . members build bridges between law enforcement and their communities while working to reduce neighborhood tensions through awareness programs and role model programs. Our philosophy regarding youth and education has reinforced the important contributions that our cultural diversity has provided this great nation. The National Latino Peace Officers Association in the largest Latino law enforcement association in the United States.

FOUNDERS
In the early 1970's two Latino peace officers had a vision of a Latino law enforcement association, working cooperatively with law enforcement agencies and the community to recruit, select and retain Latinos into the criminal justice system. John Parraz, from the Sacramento Sheriff's Department and Vincente Calderon, from the California Highway Patrol, using their personal time and money, organized and eventually founded what is now known as the National Latino Peace Officers Association. Today, N.L.P.O.A. has chapters from coast to coast.

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP is available to all peace officers actively employed in or retired from any professional position in the criminal justice system and who supports the objectives of N. L.P.O.A.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is available to all, non-sworn, persons who identify with and support the objectives of N.L.P.O.A.
